Pretty Little Thing uses a pop-up right at the start, but this is one of the most useful types of pop-ups. Rather than getting people to sign up to newsletters, the site wants to find out where a user is located. Clicking on a flag will help to direct a user to the local site, supposedly offering prices in their own currency. The problem comes when you choose a different location than the UK. The prices don’t convert to the local currency, despite that being suggested at the top. It is all in UK pounds. You also do need to click on the flags on the pop-up, as there is a dropdown menu at the top to change your location.
Once you get past that, there is the benefit of a clear homepage. The site uses plenty of images to share what is on offer and help someone find the clothing items they need, whether it be for a night out or casual beachwear. There is also a clear search bar at the top to find just what you need to use.
Offers on various products are very clear, including the offer of a student discount. It makes it clear that the site is mainly for younger shoppers, encouraging them to act on instinct and feelings. Right at the top is a countdown for when the next offer ends.
