Pets at Home Store Review
Pets at home are the leading UK pet store with over 400 in town and out of town store. Today we’ll have a look through the online store offering. Pets at home cater for almost every type of pet, looking at the main menu selection there’s tabs for dogs, cats, fish, reptiles, birds, small pets and general pet food categories. On the homepage you can find all the latest discounts and deals on pet accessories and food. The right hand menu bar provides quick links to help and advice from delivery to customer service. Customers can find links to order and collect or details on free delivery, today offering this service when you spend £35 or more. There are also links to shop locations, VIP club discounts and pet ownership help.
The main menu was a little tricky to start with having to drill down to select even the top level category, for this example I was trying the dog category. Once there the layout was found to be a breath of fresh air when it comes to product selection with every sub category shown pictorially ‘as well as text. I’ll look into the dog treat section as this is our Bobby’s favourite (Bobby being our lovely shih tzu cross breed). I have to admit that there are hundreds of dog treats to choose from so I went straight to the left hand refine menu to thin out the products; you can do this by type, colour, manufacturer etc. I’ve popped a rawhide bone into the basket as an example.
At the checkout you will find a product summary and delivery options. The home delivery was in my opinion a bit pricey at £4.95 for an up to 4 day service and £9.95 if you want it the next day. Free standard delivery was offered if spending over £35 or free next day delivery to store on orders over £35. Orders less than £35 can be collected from a local store in up to 3 days. The rest of the checkout was easy going, either check out as a guest, login or register. All in all a great pet product offering and an easy site to navigate with lots of tips and information on pet care. There’s even a VIP club where you can get exclusive discounts and a free magazine full of interesting articles and pet tips.
