Matalan welcomes users with a pop-up that asks for people to take a survey after the visit. This can turn some people off, but at least it’s very easy to navigate away by clicking Yes or No. Once you get to the main site, the homepage is crisp, clear and very modern. There is plenty of white space, making it easier to view the pictures that lead you to various sections on the site.
The main image at the top is for current shopping trends, so during the end of the summer it focuses on Back to School. That can change to Christmas shopping and Valentine’s gift needs at different seasonal periods. Overall, the site is easy to navigate around. The menu section is user-friendly and the search bar makes it possible for someone to put in a quick keyword and find the products they need. The ability to click and collect is also made clear at the very top, allowing people to save money on delivery.
Contacting could be made easier to view at a glance, but it is at least displayed at the top of the screen. In fact, it is next to other important links for users, including the store finder and returns information.
